Memory trouble shooting : HTC wildfire S

Understanding the Problem

Symptoms:

  • Your phone’s internal memory is low. The low storage wizard can help you increase the amount of available memory. Would you like to enter the low storage wizard?'
  • Can only download a limited number of apps.
The HTC Wildfire S has about 100 MB of internal storage space. Apps, app caches, emails, and text messages use this space. You can only store a very limited number of apps in this space. Some apps, such as Facebook, can use more than half of this space.

When internal storage space is not available, a pop-up message appears.

How to Solve it ?

If you have problems with storage space and memory errors, follow these steps:

1.Use the Low Storage Wizard when it pops up or access it from:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap SD & phone storage.
  4. Tap Make more space.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts.

  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.
  4. Tap Manage Applications.
  5. Tap All.
  6. Tap Menu.
  7. Tap Sort by size.
  8. View the applications from top (largest) to bottom (smallest).
  9. Tap the application name to Clear data or Clear cache.

4. If any apps are over 10 MB or cause the error to appear, uninstall them from the Manage Applications settings (above).

5. If the error appears when accessing a preloaded app like Visual Voicemail, clear the cache and data.

6. Move any contacts stored on the internal phone memory to Google or T-Mobile Contacts Backup. See:

  1. From the Accounts & sync settings, turn off sync to all Google and T-mobile Contacts Backup accounts. If you do not, you may end up deleting all your contacts.
  2. Export contacts to the SD card.
  3. Delete the contacts.
  4. From the Accounts & sync settings, turn on sync to your contacts.
  5. Import contacts from SD card.

Note: Be sure to save contacts to Google or T-Mobile Contacts Backup.

7. Wipe the cache partition.

8. If the problem continues, follow the steps for: Device is slow / freezes / restarts / or displays memory errors: Android.

9. If the problems continue after a master reset, perform one of the following:

  • Do NOT synchronize email and Facebook       OR
  • Reduce the amount of email that synchronizes with the phone. You may have to make a new Gmail account, and edit the sync settings.
  • Note: The cause of the problems is likely that your email accounts and Facebook have too much information to sync with the phone.
